Renovating H2O Shopping Centre: drone and time-lapse construction coverage
A large-scale transformation needs a visual story that reflects its scale. For H2O, we combined construction-progress drone footage indoors and outdoors, high-definition ground-level filming and long-term time-lapse. Four dedicated filming days were brought together with months of progress condensed into seconds, showing the before and after of this shopping centre in Madrid.

H2O Shopping Centre: documenting a major transformation
The evolution of a commercial space is an important moment for its brand and community as well as an architectural project. At H2O, the challenge was to capture an extensive refurbishment covering both the exterior and the modernisation of indoor shared areas. Our production approach combined drone coverage, long-term time-lapse and ground-level filming.
Consistent coverage of a large site
A project of this scale requires regular documentation. One filming day cannot show its full development. We carried out four dedicated shoots spread across the construction period, combining ground-level footage with planned drone flights. This produced coherent material that could be edited into a smooth account of the progress.
Time-lapse at the heart of the renovation film
Time-lapse condenses months of construction work into a short sequence, allowing viewers to appreciate the scale of the change quickly. At H2O, it connected the different parts of the film and added a sense of progression that conventional video alone could not provide.
Indoor drone filming at a shopping centre
Indoor drone filming was one of this project’s distinctive features. Exterior flights place the centre in its surroundings and show the scale of its façades, while indoor flights provide a different perspective on internal plazas, corridors and new structures.
Flying between columns, lighting fixtures and complex ceilings requires technical skill. The resulting footage gives a sense of space and movement, inviting viewers to explore the renovated H2O from the air.
Combining ground-level footage, aerial views and time
The strength of the film lies in the combination of material. Ground-level shots bring detail, texture and a closer perspective. Combined with drone footage and time-lapse, they create a comprehensive account of the renovation.
Why invest in a construction-progress film?
For H2O, the film is both a record of the works and a marketing and communication asset. It can help to:
- Build confidence: show customers and investors the quality of the new facilities.
- Supply social media content: use engaging drone and time-lapse sequences.
- Preserve a corporate record: document the effort and investment in improving the property.
If you need a production team that understands construction coverage with drone and time-lapse, this project shows what we can achieve together. Appropriate equipment and professional planning can turn the transformation of a space into a clear visual story.
